Programme name: Doctoral School of Mechanical Engineering

Description: The doctoral school covers quite a large and complex field of sciences in mechanical engineering. The educational and research programme of the Doctoral School encompasses three large areas. One deals with basic engineering sciences, the second with designing objects (machines and machine elements) and the third one is related to the issues of material sciences and materials processing technologies, as well as to production processes and production systems.

Programme name: European Geotechnical and Environmental Course (EGEC)

Description: The Faculty is a member of the Federation of European Mineral Programs (FEMP), within which three courses are available: the European Mining Course (EMC), the European Mineral Engineering Course (EMEC), and the European Geotechnical and Environmental Course (EGEC). Institutions taking part in the work of the FEMP are: Aalto University, Delft University of Technology, Miskolc University, RWTH Aachen, University, Wroclaw University of Technology.
The aim of European Geotechnical and Environmental Course is to train highly qualified engineers who possess the knowledge and skills needed for the engineering work on design and operating mining plants with strong environmental aspects.

Programme name: Materials Engineering MSc
Type: MSc
Duration: 4 semesters
Description: he primary purpose of the materials engineering course is to deepen the theoretical knowledge in respect of the physico-chemical processes applied for the production and processing of metallic, silicate and polymeric materials. The subjects on natural science, business, economy and human aspects are also included in the curriculum to lay the basis for a deeper understanding of the relevant processes and technological characteristics of materials technologies. Students can become capable of developing the production and treating processes, designing and testing of novel materials, such as metals, silicates, plastics and composites with up-to-date structures. Emphasis is also laid upon green processing, recycling and environmental protection. Students can freely choose among the major specializations. In order to offer the expansion of their interdisciplinary knowledge, students can combine auxiliary specializations (minors) with their major fields. The total length of the study program is 4 semesters, including the one-month practical training and the two month graduation work. The area of the graduation work is derived from the major specialization. The specialization structure is selected at the beginning of the course. Students, who require preparatory courses before starting the specialized training, cannot take the auxiliary specializations.

Description: The Kerpely Antal Doctoral Scool of Materials Science and Technology encompasses 11 fields related to Materials Science. The foolowing fields can be studied: Chemical Metallurgy the science and technology related to prepare metals and alloys. Foundry technology the science and practice behind the casting of metallic objects. Interfacial and Nano-technologies combining materials testing on the micro-nano scale with production of nano materials. The field of Metalforming is the science behind the shaping of metallic products using palstic deformation. Physical Metallurgy, Heat Treatment investigating the physical processes and technologies during heat treatment for better properties of metals. Materials Informatics is the field related to processing and evaluating data of materials testing and image analysis. Space Materials and technologies encompasses the materials and related technologies used in space related activities and aeronautics. High Temperature Applications and Thermal Energy Management. Ceramics and Related Technologies are focusing both on the classical ceramic compounds and the high tech ceramics and processes. Polymertechnology is the field related to producin polymers combining them with additives to prepare plastic formulations and investigate the processing options. Chemical Processes and Technologies is a filed relared to the processes used in the chemical industry.

Programme name: MSc in Earth Sciences Engineering

Description: The Earth Science Masters program builds upon strong engineering BSc basis and focuses on exploration skills and methods in geology, geophysics and geochemistry. The Applied Geology and Geophysics is closely linked to extractive industries and trains professionals high-level for its most important R+D activity, the explorations, on high-level. It also concerns with carrying out environmental assessments and the containment of environmental contamination, and with advanced knowledge of the engineering methods associated with these tasks.
The qualifications are likely to be useful in enterprises and companies, research institutes and administrative agencies that deal with the management of mineral resources and related planning and regulatory activities. Its job market includes domestic and international firms working in fossil fuels and exploring for metallic and non-metallic minerals, within Hungary and abroad.

Programme name: MSc in Hydrogeological Engineering

Duration: 4 semesters
Description: The aim of this program is to train highly qualified engineers who are competent in dealing with geological and environmental issues concerning surface and subsurface waters, the protection of quantity and quality of water resources, and remediation contaminated sites. They will be capable of solving problems related to the construction of various engineering structures (buildings, tunnels, railways, underground transport systems, reservoirs, earthworks, roads, surface mines, underground mines, etc.) and of carrying out and coordinating tasks related to research and development in their academic fields, as well as of continuing their studies in the doctoral program.
Since joining the European Union, the Water Framework Directive has laid out the vital tasks regarding our water supply. The utilization of geothermal energy is sure to play an important role in increasing Hungary.’s renewable energy resources. However, the long-term use of geothermal energy also requires the protection of groundwater supplies.

Description: Petroleum Engineering is a well-paying career that offers many opportunities to use one's talent and skills in the important mission of supplying energy to the world. The aim of the program is to train highly qualified engineers who possess the knowledge and skills needed for the engineering work involved in the planning, implementation and operation of the technology and infrastructure essential for the exploration, production, processing and transport of oil, natural gas and water supplies. They will possess the theoretical knowledge needed to carry out and manage R&D tasks in their area of expertise at a level that meets international standards.
The curriculum is based primarily on the over fifty years of experience in research and teaching carried out at the University of Miskolc in the areas of the exploration, production, transport and utilization of oil and natural gas. The topics covered in the subjects and the balance of theory and practice ensure that students taking part in the MSc in Petroleum Engineering program will be able to acquire the needed competences at a high level during the four-semester program.

Programme name: Enterprise Theory and Practice Doctoral School
Type: PhD
Duration: 6 semesters
Description: The Enterprise Theory and Practice Doctoral School was established in 1992. The first public defence was held in August 1994, and more than 75 graduates, including six foreign students have received their PhD degree since then. The topics of the theses included issues related the economic theory, regional and environmental problems, management, business economics, marketing, accounting, finance and the methodological aspects of economic research. Admission requirements include: Masters degree in business or economics with at least a ‘cum laude’ honours; at least a B2 level language exam according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR); sufficient proficiency in the chosen field of research. Before applying candidates should contact their future supervisor, and compile a research plan in cooperation with her.
