Description, objectives and fields of researches of RC/RW: The Centre Of Excellence in Sustainable Natural Resource Management consists of four research groups, namely 1) the raw material management, 2) the energy management, 3) the geoinformation data processing and 4) the water resource management research group. These fields are of essential importance in the European Union directives.

Leader of RC/RW: Prof. Dr. Barnabás Csőke CSc

Description, objectives and fields of researches of RC/RW: The raw material management research group deals with primary as well as secondary raw material mining and processing, development of mining and preparation technologies. Special topics are the utilization of industrial and mining waste materials and utilization of metal bearing wastes. In the field of waste management researchers focus on recultivation of waste deposits, risk based benchmarking, brownfield social studies and economics, attitude in waste management, legal environment.

Leader of RC/RW: Dr. Tibor Bódi PhD, Director of the Institute of Applied Earth Science

Description, objectives and fields of researches of RC/RW: The energy management research group deals with the social science aspects of biomass utilization and sustainability criteria of small settlements.

Important topics of biomass research are energetic application of biomass, alternative energy resources. As for the renewable energy the research group investigate the utilization of geothermal energy, geothermal energy production, geothermal well drilling, geophysical applications. A new area is the renewable gases: waste based biogas production, pyrolysis and gasification of solid raw materials,
production technological questions of non-conventional gases, determination of special rock physical properties.
In the field of carbon dioxide storage they deal with technological problems of CO2 separation, geological requirements of underground CO2 storage, rock mechanical questions of production, CO2 transportation and rock mechanical questions of production.
