DigiEduHack2020 - a success for every participant

2020. november 17.

The challenge for DigiEduHack was to plan and prepare a virtual geological exploration field trip, including its methodological and technical details, using virtually accomplishable measurements, data procession and 3D presentation.

Six groups from four continents accepted the challenge – the most assorted team called Utazók (Travellers in Hungarian) consisted of Stipendium Hungaricum Earth Science Engineering alumnis from the University of Miskolc (all graduated in 2019): Pablo Echevarria (Argentina), Ganbat Gunbileg (Mongolia) and Shuaib Mustahsan (Pakistan).

Our Egyptian SH and SCYP students from the Faculty of Earth Science and Engineering formed one team: Emad Nageh Masri Abdelnour, Moataz Mohamed Gomaa Abdelrahman and Mohamed Ahmed Abdelhadi Badawi - meanwhile the Kazakh team contained two of our SH students: Medet Junus (Faculty of Earth Science and Engineering) and Akzhan Bekzhanov (Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering).

The Miskolc part of the DigiEduHack2020 was mentored by internationally recognized experts in the digital applications of raw material research: Krisztián Szentpéteri (exploration geologist) and Hilco van Moekerk (3D data management expert).

Participants from five continents gathered together online to check the final meeting presenting the solutions. The jury emphasized that each group presented such valuable and innovative solutions that could be used in an excellent way in the future during the teaching of earth sciences.

Congratulations to all the participating teams!

The participation of the University of Miskolc at DigiEduHack2020 was supported by EIT RawMaterials and funded by the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT).
