First Announcement and Call for Papers of the Conference on

History of Mathematics and Teaching of Mathematics

Miskolc, Hungary
2020. May 20-24.

Mathematics - a common language for Europe for a thousand years.

Coronavirus and HMTM Conference Miskolc

Given the current situation with the coronavirus, both in Hungary and in other countries, we have no option other than to cancel meeting in Miskolc on 20-24 May 2020. We hope, nevertheless, that we can organise a virtual conference and publish Proceedings. Once we have worked out details we will contact all participants with information about how they should present their lecture.

We are confident that, given the statements by governments, anyone who has booked travel will be able to recover the cost. The local organisers will advise those who have already paid their registration fees about a refund, as the registration fees will be waived.

May I wish you all good health in these difficult times.

Edmund F Robertson
Chair of HMTM Miskolc 2020

The aim of the conference is to present aspects of the History of Mathematics, including its impact on the Teaching of Mathematics, to provide a forum to meet each other, and to give an opportunity for young researchers to present their results on the history of mathematics. We invite our colleagues, students, graduate students and other researchers to take part in the meeting.

The meeting will be hosted by the University of Miskolc, its campus next to Miskolc-Tapolca, famous spa for its thermal cave-bath.
