30. November 2016. 13:25

The Faculty of Earth Science and Engineering (MFK) took part in the Budapest Water Summit, where heads of state, ministers, and representatives from the international civil, scientific and commercial sphere discussed issues related to sustainable water management.

Dr. János Áder, President of Hungary, visited the MFK stand at the expo on the final day of the event. Another event of note was MFK’s outstanding performance in the poster presentation competition for students, with the audience award being won by the poster of István Székely (PhD student) & Virág Kovács (MSc student) entitled "Development and Application of Innovative Laboratory Devices for Determining Contaminant Transport Parameters".

Nearly 1,800 guests from 117 nations registered for this major event, held 28-30 November. Given the themes of the summit, it was clear that representatives of the Earth Science and Engineering Faculty belonged among them. The Faculty’s expertise in groundwater and water management is respected on governmental and policy levels and attested to by numerous Hungarian and international projects. The University of Miskolc is the leading university in Hungary in the field of groundwater management, and can compete with other European institutions of higher education in this field.
