PETROLEUM ENGINEERS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MISKOLC FOUGHT WITH FIGHTER PLANE ENGINES SET UP ON TANK

In 1991, for the orders of the Iraqi dictator occupying Kuwait, Saddam Hussein, nearly 800 operating oil wells in the Gulf Coast oil-producing country were set on fire. To solve the threat of an international environmental disaster, several teams have arrived from around the world, including the Hungarian Blowout Specialist (HBS), a team of experts from the Petroleum Exploration Company and the Rotary Drilling Company, many of whom graduated from our university’s predecessor.

The team also took the newly developed Big Wind with them – it actually consisted of a chassis for a T-34 tank and two MiG-21 engines mounted on it. Big Wind managed to put out dozen flaming oil wells in Kuwait.
