The civic service organisation Magyar Asszonyok Érdekszövetsége awarded university members with certificates recognising their dedicated voluntary work in the fight against the coronavirus.

The ceremony took place on 14 June in Szent Anyagok church in Budapest, and began with a mass for those who passed away in the pandemic. The awards were given by Kinga Szőnyi, president of the association, and Dr. Judit Varga, chair of the board of trustees of the Universitas Miskolcinensis Foundation. Also present was UM’s rector, Prof. Zita Horváth. 

Certificates were awarded to the dean of the Faculty of Healthcare, Dr. Emőke Kiss-Tóth, to master lecturer Ágnes Encsiné Nagy, head of the faculty’s student union Viktória Zámola, and mechanical engineering student Gergő Gergely. Two students received special awards for saving lives: Nikolett Kertész (healthcare) and Péter Dékány (mech. eng.).
