Employees and students donated enough toys, stuffed animals, books and clothing in the Christmas gift drive to fill an office. These items were turned over to the Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta for distribution to those in need.

On this occasion Rector Zita Horváth spoke about the large number of families in need in the region, and the university’s role in helping out not only through donations but also through providing scholarships for students who otherwise could not afford to attend university. Tamás Csehely from the local office of the charity thanked the generosity of the university community and noted that involvement in charitable activities is growing in the region.

In addition to the general gift drive, campus activities included a collection of chocolate and baking supplies for a local initiative, clothing for another local charity, and the Santa Run Mikulás gift bags for children.
