NOMINATION  
OF SELECTED ERASMUS STUDENTS TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MISKOLC

 

As soon as the application round is finished, partner universities are expected to send us the nomination of selected Erasmus students. The nomination contains:

WHERE TO SEND THE NOMINATION?

After receiving the nomination, an info letter on how to go on with the application process will be sent directly to the student(s) by e-mail.
If a partner university wants to nominate more students than defined in the Inter-Institutional Agreement, first it must be negotiated with the Erasmus Office.

 

ERASMUS+ APPLICATION
TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MISKOLC

 

Once the nomination is done by the partner university, students will receive an info letter about the way how to apply (link to the online registration platform will be sent).  The application will be online in the following steps:

Visit the online course catalogue page, have a look and select your courses in advance. You can choose courses from any faculty, but the majority of courses must belong to the subject area int he Inter-Institutional Agreement between the two institutions.

  1. Fill in and submit the online registration form (you are advised to download the completed form after submitting it).   In the registration form, you have to do the final selection of courses.
    You are expected to send a separate Learning Agreement by e-mail  (or fill in an LA  online in the  Erasmus Without Paper (EWP) Dashboard if it is introduced in 2021/22. Please ask for instructions how to do it from your Erasmus Office or Erasmus Coordinator).
  2. Make sure that the courses selected in the online registration form are identical to those you put in your Learning Agreement. If you change your mind about the courses, you need to re-register using the online form. 

    APPLICATION DEADLINE:

Applications will be examined and proceeded, and the online learning agreements will be approved and signed by the faculty coordinators. From that moment, you have to keep permanent contact with the Erasmus coordinator or the Erasmus Officer in all matters.  The International Office will issue a letter of acceptance on demand.

COURSE OFFER IN ENGLISH

The list is subject to changes and modifications. Please note that some of these courses will not be instructed in classes, but in the form of individual contact hours with the teachers. The final assessment of your studies will be given on the basis of the following elements: number of contact hours, individual project work (individual elaboration of specialised literature) in the departmental or central libraries, submitted interim reports (if requested by the teachers), final report/exam (oral or written).

At the end of your studies, the International Office will issue a Transcript of Records about the courses you completed and the credits you obtained. The credits stated on the Transcript are equivalent to the ECTS credit points, there is no need for further conversion.

ACCOMMODATION
FOR ERASMUS STUDENTS

 

Accommodation is reserved for all Erasmus students in one of the dormitories  on campus, most probably in dorm E/4.  Erasmus students needn’t make any measures, the Erasmus Office will reserve the room automatically as soon as the application is approved by the faculty coordinators.

 

Type of accommodation:  

Payment conditions: 34000 HUF/month/person-to be paid until 10th of each month by payment-slip.
Student Hostel checkout sheet: signed by the caretaker of the student hostel when leaving the dormitory,this is a prerequisite for the student to get the TRANSCRIPT of RECORDS.

IMMIGRATION RULES AND PROCEDURES

 

Depending on which country (EU or non-EU) you come from, immigration procedures after arrival differ.  Students can only visit the Immigration Office on pre-arranged appointments and accompanied by their mentor

You will need the following for immigration procedures in Hungary:

You will get a small registration card, please always keep it with you.

NON-EU CITIZENS:

you enter Hungary with a visa valid for 30 days, which will allow you to get your residence permit at the Enter Hungary system

HEALTH INSURANCE

Please make sure you have the necessary health insurance.

EU-citizens: You will need a  European Union Health Insurance Card valid for the whole duration of your stay in Hungary, which will entitle you to free-of-charge emergency medical care. 

Non-EU citizens:  You have to make an insurance contract with an insurance company in your home country for the duration of your studies abroad. It means that you will have to pay full price for any medical service (visit to a doctor) and also for the medicine in Hungary and your expenses will be reimbursed in your home country on the basis of receipts. Please note that Erasmus student status and the Hungarian student card are not enough to get free-of-charge medical treatment. If you have no insurance, you will have to pay for everything and there will be no compensation later.

If any health problems arise during your stay, you can visit the university doctor’s surgery/dentistry in student hostel E/4 on the groundfloor. Ask someone to go with you to avoid language problems (or, if it is not urgent, you can ask somebody to make an appointment with the doctor). After a medical check-up the doctor will decide if you need a specialised examination or hospital treatment. If so, you will be given a warrant for further examination or hospitalisation.  In COVID times, please ask your mentor student  to help you make an appointment with the doctor by phone.

If you have a private medical insurance, you can apply for an appointment to a doctor by calling the medical hotline written on your insurance card.

If you are in danger and you need immediate medical treatment, you should call the General emergency service (112), where you can speak with an English-speaking operator.

Pharmacies (in Hungarian: gyógyszertár) in Miskolc are well supplied and can provide medicaments for most common ailments.

ESN  BUDDIES / MENTORS TO HELP ERASMUS STUDENTS

 

It is never easy to find oneself in a foreign country, surrounded by strangers, new circumstances, new customs, different people speaking an unknown language, and to get used to a new way of life. In order to avoid all these troubles and to make  life smoother, student mentors (buddies)  of ESN (Erasmus Student Network) will provide the incoming students with information and help in arranging studies and in the issues of everyday life. Each Erasmus student will be  contacted by a buddy well before arrival to be his/her personal mentor  all throughout the stay in Miskolc.

ORIENTATION EVENT

 

Before a semester starts, an Orientation Event is organised for all international students. Students  will be informed about the time and place of the event in due course.Depending on the circumstances, especially  if the pandemic persists , the orientation  event will be organised online, instead of  on-site.
