SHORT DESCRIPTION: Ferenc Deák Doctoral School of Law was established in 2001. During the research and dissertation period, supervisor guide PhD students in their research work and help them  in preparing the PhD dissertation.  PhD candidates are expected to demonstrate their ability to conduct top level research work. The PhD thesis shall contain original empirical research.  PhD students are involved in academic teaching and in the scientific work of the Department concerned.

SPECIALIZATIONS: More than fifty supervisors and several research topics await the applicants of the Doctoral School, which provides possibility to its students to publish scientific papers in the scientific journal of the School and to participate in scientific conferences. The Doctoral School encourages and supports its students to take part in study trips both in Hungary and abroad and regularly invites international and Hungarian guest lecturers. The following research programmes are offered to candidates: Legal history research; Constitutional law; Legal theory; Public law; Civil law; Law of the European Union; Criminal law and criminal procedure; Labour law and agricultural law; Administrative law; Financial law; International law; Civil procedural law; Commercial law and Central European comparative law.

CAREER PROSPECTS: PhD training provides students with high-level knowledge in theoretical and methodological aspects of scientific research and allows participants to deepen their professional knowledge in different fields of legal sciences as well as  to gain practical experience.
