When did you start your studies and why did you choose the University of Miskolc?

I started my studies in the academic year 2023/2024. I chose the University of Miskolc because, as someone who values quiet and peaceful environments, I find its green campus and calm atmosphere perfect for focusing on my studies. I prefer places that are not crowded, and this helps me concentrate better and be more productive in my research. The university’s supportive facilities and resources also make it an excellent place for pursuing my PhD in law.

What was your first impression when you arrived in Hungary? Did you notice any cultural differences?

When I first arrived in Hungary, I was really impressed by the calm atmosphere and how well-organized the cities are. The public services and infrastructure work very efficiently, showing how much the country cares about the quality of life. I also noticed some cultural differences, especially in how people communicate- Hungarians tend to be thoughtful and respectful. I’ve found the people here very polite and welcoming, which has helped me settle in easily and enjoy my time.

What are/were your biggest challenges during your studies and how did you overcome these challenges?

One of my biggest challenges during my studies has been managing my time and staying motivated, especially since I finished my master’s degree 10 years ago and had to get back into the study mindset. To handle this, I made a clear study plan and stayed organized, which really helped me stay focused and keep on track to achieve my goals.

In your opinion, what makes the University of Miskolc stand out among other Hungarian universities?

Many Hungarian universities offer strong programs, good study structures, and solid student support. However, the University of Miskolc has a special advantage because of its peaceful atmosphere, beautiful green campus, and the area surrounding it. In addition, the university’s sports facilities are excellent, providing a great balance between study and recreation.

What do you like the most about campus life at the University of Miskolc?

What I like most about campus life at the University of Miskolc is the excellent sports facilities. They offer great opportunities to stay active and healthy.

What kinds of activities, programmes or student organizations have you taken part in during your studies at the university?

During my studies at the university, I have participated in many sports activities, including football championships and tennis. I also took part in the mobility program, which allowed me to visit several important universities across Europe.

What are the places and activities that an international student should definitely visit or try in Miskolc?

From my personal experience, I believe international students should make it a habit to visit Lillafüred regularly to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings, while also taking full advantage of the university’s wide range of sports activities, which offer a great way to stay healthy and have fun during their studies.

Do you and other students from your country (or similar cultural background) keep any of your traditions while living in Miskolc? If yes, can you give an example?

Yes, many students from my country and similar cultural backgrounds try to keep our traditions alive while living in Miskolc. For example, we often celebrate important cultural and religious holidays together, such as Ramadan, by gathering for iftar meals. This helps us stay connected to our roots and support each other while we’re far from home.

What skills and benefits have you already gained from studying at the University of Miskolc?

Studying at the University of Miskolc has helped me improve my research and critical thinking skills, especially in law. I’ve also learned to manage my time better and stay disciplined, which is really important when balancing studies and personal life. Plus, being in an international environment has boosted my communication skills and opened my mind to different cultures.

What kind of academic support have you received from the university or your faculty?

I have received great academic support from both the university and my faculty. The professors are very approachable and always willing to help with questions or guidance. There are also workshops and seminars that help improve research and writing skills.

How do you think your degree of the University of Miskolc will help you in your life and career?

Earning my degree from the University of Miskolc will give me the knowledge and confidence to take on bigger responsibilities in my country’s legal system. It will help me contribute to creating fair policies and stronger institutions. More importantly, this education will inspire me to lead by example and work towards a better future for my community.

What is the most important thing or advice you would recommend to active/future students of the University of Miskolc?

The most important advice I would give to current and future students at the University of Miskolc is to stay active and make regular sport exercise a priority. The university offers many high-quality sports options, so take advantage of them and don’t miss out on this great way to stay healthy and balance your studies.

If you could choose a superpower, what would it be and how would you use it to help active/future students of the University of Miskolc?

If I could have a superpower, it would be the ability to help people control their moods and stay strong and active, even during tough times. Imagine being able to switch to “focus mode” or “energy boost” whenever you need it! With this power, I’d help students keep going, no matter how hard things get.
