Application procedure

Step 1

Step 2

Learn about admission requirements, intake, services, fees, and the refund policy of the University of Miskolc. 

Step 3

Transfer the application fee (150 EUR) to the bank account of the University of Miskolc. Applications are processed and evaluated after the payment is credited and confirmed by the financial department of the University of Miskolc. It might take 1-2 weeks from the day of payment. (See the bank details in Step 8.)

Step 4

Click on the Apply Now button by the selected study programme, fill in the application form on our DreamApply online application platform and upload the application documents and the completed mandatory medical certificate template.

Application documents

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) (Europass format) 
  • Motivation letter (written in 3000-3500 characters) 
  • Certified and translated copy of bachelor’s /master ‘s degree and transcripts 
  • Official copy of the language examination certificate (minimum level: B2) OR an official document, issued by the previous university, confirming that the language of instruction was English 
  • Mandatory medical certificate template, with compulsory attachments 
  • Copy of valid passport / national ID 
  • Proof of payment of 150 EUR application fee 

If you are applying for a doctoral programme, you will also need to upload additional documents.

Additional documents

  • Two Letters of Recommendation from former or current supervisors, recognized experts or professors of the field 
  • Research plan (minimum 3 pages) 
  • List of publications (if available)
Important

All documents must be submitted in English or with an official translation. The original hard copies of bachelor’s /master ‘s degree(s), of transcripts and of language examination certificate must be shown after your arrival. It is not possible to enrol at the university without presenting the original documents!

No provisional degree is accepted! 

Step 5

Submit your application before deadline:

Spring Term of the 2024/2025 academic year  
  • Opening: 9 September 2024 
  • Deadline: 30 November 2024, 12:00 (noon) CET 
  • Term starts: 1st week of February 2025 
Autumn Term of the 2025/2026 academic year  
  • Opening: 1 October 2024 
  • Deadline: 15 June 2025, 12:00 (noon) CET 
  • Term starts: 1st week of September 2025 

Step 6

As soon as the application fee is credited and confirmed by the financial department of the University, the formal and content evaluation of the application documents starts. 

Step 7

In case of eligibility, applicants are invited to take an online oral entrance examination where their professional knowledge, skills and command of English are tested by the examination board. The date of the oral examination is not bound to the date of the application submission. It will take place by the end of June/November the latest, or earlier. For details of the entrance examination, please visit the website of the specific study programme.

Entrance exam is free of charge.

Step 8

In a week, following the successful entrance examination, applicants are issued a conditional letter of admission indicating their tuition and accommodation (dormitory) fee paying obligation.

Tuition fee
  • The amount of tuition fee varies by study programme. Visit the website of the specific programme to check the exact details. The first semester tuition fee should be transferred as stated in the Conditional Letter of Acceptance. The tuition fees of the forthcoming years should be transferred prior to each semester. Students will be notified of their fee-paying obligation in due time.
Accommodation fee
  • The University provides accommodation in the dormitory located on campus for firstyear students automatically to support and ease applicantsVisa process. The first semester accommodation fee (625 EUR – approx. 250.000 HUF for 5 months) is to be transferred together with the tuition fee.

Step 9

Once the first semester tuition and accommodation fee are credited and confirmed by the financial department of the university, applicants are issued a Final Letter of Acceptance confirming that the tuition fee is paid, and that accommodation is provided for the applicant in the dormitory of the University of Miskolc.
The Final Letter of Acceptance serves both as proof of admission and accommodation, and must be presented during the visa procedure.

Step 10

Applicants must submit their Visa application to the relevant Embassy/Consulate as soon as they receive the Final Letter of Acceptance. The applicant is obliged to inform the university about the time and place of visa application and whether the visa is issued/rejected at the time of action at international.relations@uni-miskolc.hu
