I started my studies here in September 2024. I was watching a promotional video of the University of Miskolc, and by the time that 4 minutes long video ended; my heart knew that this is where I envisioned my future. It felt like a true calling. I instantly knew that this is the place where all my ambitions about being a material scientist would come to fruition.
What was your first impression when you arrived in Hungary? Did you notice any cultural differences?
Majestic, resplendent, a whole new world: these were the first few words that came to my mind. Every street had a story to tell, every corner beckoned me to explore it. Yes there were cultural differences, specially when it came to food preferences and recreation, but soon I realised that we all loved, hoped, dreamed; and that is what brought us closer, than apart.
What are/were your biggest challenges during your studies and how did you overcome these challenges?
My biggest challenge was to juggle my academics with the myraid of extra curricular activities and events which were being organised. I had to find the perfect routine to fit everything in it. I looked at how my seniors were doing it, and I prioritised what was urgent and what could be delayed. Soon I was able to strike a balance.
In your opinion, what makes the University of Miskolc stand out among other Hungarian universities?
The close knitted student community coupled with this university being an ‘egyetemváros’ where everything is in close proximity to one another. My dorm is just 5 minutes walk away from my classes. I have participated in all of the excursion trips, from exploring the wine cellars of Tokaj to witnessing the caves of Lillafüred. And ofcourse, the Rockwell parties!

What skills and benefits have you already gained from studying at the University of Miskolc?
I have started being more tolerant of ideas and viewpoints that are opposite to mine. This is because all of us come from different backgrounds and we all tend to perceive reality differently. I have also started to speak Hungarian a little and I just love this language.
