When did you start your studies and why did you choose the University of Miskolc?
I began my studies in September 2024. I chose the University of Miskolc because it stands out for its excellent programs, vibrant campus life, and the incredible opportunity it gave me to pursue Nursing fully funded. That’s a chance I couldn’t pass up.
What was your first impression when you arrived in Hungary? Did you notice any cultural differences?
My first impression of Hungary was clean area and courteous people. The strong respect for rules stood out to me as it was quite different from what I’m used to back home.
What are/were your biggest challenges during your studies and how did you overcome these challenges?
Studying in English was my biggest challenge since it was my first time learning entirely in this language. I dedicated extra time to practice and used various resources to improve my skills. Adapting to the local food was also difficult at first but I stayed open-minded, and gradually grew to enjoy the new flavors and dishes.
In your opinion, what makes the University of Miskolc stand out among other Hungarian universities?
The University of Miskolc stands out with its wide range of innovative programs that open doors to exciting career paths. It also offers great sports and cultural events, well-equipped labs for research and low tuition fees that make quality education affordable.
What do you like the most about campus life at the University of Miskolc?
The warm and friendly student community where everyone feels like family. The vibrant clubs and social groups create endless opportunities to connect and grow.
What kinds of activities, programmes or student organizations have you taken part in during your studies at the university?
Freshmen’s Camp, Orientation Day, International Day, Farewell Reception, Social Innovation, and so on.
What are the places and activities that an international student should definitely visit or try in Miskolc?
Lillafüred: Beautiful nature with hiking trails. A peaceful lake and a soothing fountain. Diósgyőr Castle: Historic medieval castle to explore. Learn about Hungary’s rich past. Miskolctapolca Thermal Cave Bath: Unique warm cave bath experience. Great place to unwind and relax.
Do you and other students from your country (or similar cultural background) keep any of your traditions while living in Miskolc? If yes, can you give an example?
Yes we try to keep our traditions alive while living in Miskolc. For example we often celebrate important cultural festivals together (Eid, Bengali New Year) sharing traditional food & wearing cultural attire to stay connected with our roots.
What skills and benefits have you already gained from studying at the University of Miskolc?
Studying at the University of Miskolc has improved my communication, critical thinking and practical skills. It also helped me become more adaptable and culturally aware.
What kind of academic support have you received from the university or your faculty?
I have received strong academic support from both the university and my faculty through approachable professors and dedicated tutoring services. They also offer research opportunities and resources that enhance learning and practical experience.
How do you think your degree of the University of Miskolc will help you in your life and career?
My nursing degree from the University of Miskolc will equip me with the knowledge and skills essential for a fulfilling career in healthcare. While also fostering personal growth, opening doors to specialized roles and further education in my field.
What is the most important thing or advice you would recommend to active/future students of the University of Miskolc?
My advice towards them will be to ehance their skills and future career, to dive into practical experiences like internships and research at the University of Miskolc.
If you could choose a superpower, what would it be and how would you use it to help active/future students of the University of Miskolc?
If I could choose a superpower then I would choose Super Speed Learning. So that I can quickly absorb vast amounts of information. This would be awesome for helping me to grasp complex topics and solve problems quickly.
