When did you start your studies and why did you choose the University of Miskolc?

I started my studies in the academic year 2022/2023. I chose the University of Miskolc because it offers a perfect environment for carrying out my studies. You can find almost everything you need on campus! Additionally, my programme (Ph.D. in Law) is well-structured and helpful in developing research skills in law. The programme is divided into two parts: two years of education and two years of research.

What was your first impression when you arrived in Hungary? Did you notice any cultural differences?

I thought that Hungary was an organized country. Of course, I realized immediately that Hungarians like their personal space, but I liked that because I also like it.

What are/were your biggest challenges during your studies and how did you overcome these challenges?

The biggest challenge is to adjust yourself to a new environment with new people, where everything is different. Sometimes, you will feel homesick. Additionally, at the Ph.D. level, you have to publish and participate in different conferences with presentations, and this is academically demanding.

In your opinion, what makes the University of Miskolc stand out among other Hungarian universities?

There are two factors: first, the campus, which is really green and where you can find almost everything you need; second, the services and programs for international students are outstanding.

What do you like the most about campus life at the University of Miskolc?

On the campus, there are many events where you have the opportunity to socialize and enjoy yourself. In addition, on the campus you can play many sports.

What kinds of activities, programmes or student organizations have you taken part in during your studies at the university?

I had the privilege of being part of ISAN as Faculty Coordinator and also the International Student Ambassador of the Faculty of Law. Furthermore, I think I have participated in most of the events organized by the International Relations Office.

What are the places and activities that an international student should definitely visit or try in Miskolc?

I think that every international student should visit Miskolctapolca. There is a beautiful park, and there is also a cave bath to relax. Another great place is the city centre because there are plenty of opportunities to find good Hungarian restaurants and places to have a drink.

Do you and other students from your country (or similar cultural background) keep any of your traditions while living in Miskolc? If yes, can you give an example?

Yes, we like to have BBQ, and on the campus and nearby there are many spots where you can do it. Moreover, last years we celebrated Christmas together with a dinner.

What skills and benefits have you already gained from studying at the University of Miskolc?

I have already gained a broader view of the world, shared activities and made friends with people from different backgrounds from almost every continent. Furthermore, my research skills have been improving thanks to the lectures and activities that the university has organized for us.

What kind of academic support have you received from the university or your faculty?

In my case, I had the opportunity to make small trips for trainings and participation in conferences, where I had the opportunity to present my research in different countries such as Spain, Croatia, Romania, Slovakia, Italy, and Colombia. I had the financial support of my Faculty and the University.

How do you think your degree of the University of Miskolc will help you in your life and career?

I believe that my Ph.D. will open many doors for me at various universities and organizations due to the skills I develop here in Miskolc. Furthermore, once I finish the programme, my CV will be strong, considering that I will have some publications and presentations at conferences around Europe because they are requirements of the programme.

What is the most important thing or advice you would recommend to active/future students of the University of Miskolc?

Try to be consistent, patient, and stay informed about the opportunities that the university offers.

If you could choose a superpower, what would it be and how would you use it to help active/future students of the University of Miskolc?

I would like to have the superpower of wisdom, so I could help students with good guidance through university challenges.
