When did you start your studies and why did you choose the University of Miskolc?

I began my studies in 2024. I chose the University of Miskolc because of its diverse and multicultural environment, which makes it a truly enriching place to learn and grow. I also appreciate the welcoming, friendly atmosphere that makes it easy to connect with people from all backgrounds.

What was your first impression when you arrived in Hungary? Did you notice any cultural differences?

When I first arrived in Hungary, I was excited — especially by the beautiful historical buildings that give the country so much character. One thing that immediately stood out was the Hungarian language. Hearing it for the first time was both surprising and fascinating — it sounded so unique.

What are/were your biggest challenges during your studies and how did you overcome these challenges?

My biggest challenge was adapting to both the academic environment and the new lifestyle. Everything was unfamiliar at first, but I was fortunate to have supportive friends who helped me through it. Their encouragement made the transition much easier, and over time, they became like family to me.

In your opinion, what makes the University of Miskolc stand out among other Hungarian universities?

In my opinion, what makes the University of Miskolc stand out is its friendly and welcoming atmosphere, which creates a strong sense of community among students. The university also hosts a variety of special events that bring people together, celebrate different cultures, and make student life more vibrant and engaging.

What do you like the most about campus life at the University of Miskolc?

What I like most about campus life at the University of Miskolc is the chance to gather with other students and share experiences. There’s a special atmosphere on campus that makes you feel at home, supported, and connected.

What kinds of activities, programmes or student organizations have you taken part in during your studies at the university?

During my studies at the University of Miskolc, I really enjoyed being part of the KÖSZI organization and attending the WorldWide Café events. I was also happy to help organize cultural events and take part in Sport Day, which allowed me to connect with students from different backgrounds and contribute to campus life.

What are the places and activities that an international student should definitely visit or try in Miskolc?

I would highly recommend visiting Lillafüred, especially in autumn when the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. It’s a peaceful and picturesque place that offers a perfect escape into nature. For international students, it’s a great way to experience the beauty of Hungary beyond the university and enjoy hiking, the lake, and the waterfall.

Do you and other students from your country (or similar cultural background) keep any of your traditions while living in Miskolc? If yes, can you give an example?

Yes, we celebrate our national holidays together and have bi-weekly cooking nights where we prepare traditional food. It helps us stay connected to our culture and share it with others.

What skills and benefits have you already gained from studying at the University of Miskolc?

Studying at the University of Miskolc has helped me develop strong communication and organization skills, which are valuable both academically and personally.

What kind of academic support have you received from the university or your faculty?

I have received a lot of support from my professor mentor at the university, especially with my student research. Their guidance has been invaluable in helping me develop my academic skills and confidence.

How do you think your degree of the University of Miskolc will help you in your life and career?

I love my major, and I believe my degree from the University of Miskolc will help me grow not only my professional skills but also advance my career path.

What is the most important thing or advice you would recommend to active/future students of the University of Miskolc?

My advice to current and future students of the University of Miskolc is to find a good balance between life and studies. Both will shape your future, and ultimately, it’s up to you to decide whether that impact is positive or negative.

If you could choose a superpower, what would it be and how would you use it to help active/future students of the University of Miskolc?

My superpower would be time control — pausing or speeding up time. I’d use it to give students extra time to study before exams or to relax and recharge without falling behind.
