When did you start your studies and why did you choose the University of Miskolc?

I started my studies on 9 September 2024. The University of Miskolc is highly ranked in the field of metallurgical engineering, with professional experts and strong industry collaboration.

What was your first impression when you arrived in Hungary? Did you notice any cultural differences?

I was impressed with the beautiful and well-organized buildings. Yes, I noticed there is cultural difference in clothes and lifestyle like piercings.

What are/were your biggest challenges during your studies and how did you overcome these challenges?

Biggest challenge was unfamiliar food. I overcome it by asking others and searching for shops where I could find familiar ingredients and also tried some different Hungarian foods which I enjoyed some of them.

In your opinion, what makes the University of Miskolc stand out among other Hungarian universities?

It is there is highly collaboration with the industry, good and well established research institutes and good and new technology laboratory equipment.

What do you like the most about campus life at the University of Miskolc?

I like the social activities and gathering which is not only good for mental state but also help me to learn new cultures.

What kinds of activities, programmes or student organizations have you taken part in during your studies at the university?

I participated in Freshmen’s Camp, all trips organized for international students to Lillafüred, the Castle of Boldogkőváralja, and Tokaj. Also, different events like movie nights, Christmas tree decoration, ice skating, international dinner, and the sports day.

What are the places and activities that an international student should definitely visit or try in Miskolc?

The places that a student should visit are Lillafüred, Miskolctapolca, and Avas Hill.

Do you and other students from your country (or similar cultural background) keep any of your traditions while living in Miskolc? If yes, can you give an example?

Yes, we usually prepare Tanzanian food.

What skills and benefits have you already gained from studying at the University of Miskolc?

I have gained skills in microstructure investigations and analysis. Also I have been exposed more in the field of metallurgical engineering and meet more experts.

What kind of academic support have you received from the university or your faculty?

The access to different journals and articles from different publishers.

How do you think your degree of the University of Miskolc will help you in your life and career?

As I aspire to become an academician, this degree build a foundation in conducting research and gives me tools and skills required for my career.

What is the most important thing or advice you would recommend to active/future students of the University of Miskolc?

I would advise them to learn a bit of the Hungarian language and also to get involved in different activities and gatherings of the university.

If you could choose a superpower, what would it be and how would you use it to help active/future students of the University of Miskolc?

I would choose the “experience transfer” which will let me be able to to share the experience of doing something with others even without them doing it.
