As a leading institution in Hungarian higher education, the University of Miskolc contributes to the development of universal science and Hungarian society in
- the European higher education area through the Magna Charta of European Universities (Bologna, 1988) and
- the subsequent declarations of Berlin, Bergen, and London,
the University of Miskolc contributes to the development of universal science and Hungarian society through versatile, interdisciplinary education and high-level research and development work.
The University of Miskolc fulfills this mission in accordance with the domestic legal framework and sectoral quality policy, in cooperation with its teaching staff, employees, students, and domestic and international partners.
Within this framework,
- as a research university and a key regional player in knowledge creation and knowledge transfer for economic development, it promotes and initiates cooperation between the competitive sector, business, local governments, and government actors in order to successfully implement regional, national, and cross-border education, research, and development programs;
- it functions as the intellectual center of training and scientific development in Northern Hungary in the fields of materials science, humanities, health sciences, earth sciences, law, economics, engineering, education, music, social sciences, and natural sciences;
- it performs its higher education training tasks in accordance with the Bologna Process;
- by developing, implementing, and improving its multi-cycle (bachelor’s, master’s, PhD) programs;
- and, within the framework of postgraduate, adult and continuing education based on these programmes, considers the needs of lifelong learning, also making use of distance learning opportunities;
- adapts to the needs of the labour market and builds on elements of scientific development.
The university management expects all its teachers, staff, and students to represent its values and carry out their work in this spirit.
