In addition to our own decisions, our encounters and relationships with our fellow human beings determine our lives, constantly shaping our personalities and steering us toward our destiny. György Cziffra was forced to face a series of trials in order to fulfill his amazing talent. And although the events of his life are impressive in themselves, if we look a little more closely at his fate, it becomes clear that it was actually his relationships, his important encounters, and his fellow human beings, both near and far, who guided and helped him on his way.
A concert jointly organized by the Cziffra Festival and the University of Miskolc.
Supported by: Prime Minister’s Office, Bethlen Gábor Fund Management Ltd.

If God loves a creature, he shows it the greatest happiness and the greatest misery, according to Thornton Wilder’s novel The Eighth Day. The life of world-famous Hungarian piano virtuoso György Cziffra (1921–1994) was marked by both deprivation and abundance, persecution and celebration. The Cziffra Festival’s tableau exhibition presents this novel-worthy career.
Admission to the exhibition is free.
