At a public ceremony of the Senate of the University of Miskolc, the graduating students of the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences took their doctoral oaths and received their diplomas on 28 June. At the event, the Honorary Doctorate and PhD degrees, the University of Miskolc International Student Ambassador Award, the Szemere Memorial Medal and the University’s Student Government Awards were presented.
470 students graduated from the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences in the second semester of the academic year 2024/2025 with bachelor’s, master’s and specialised further education degrees and higher education vocational training. 113 students graduated with a law degree – 10 of them summa cum laude, 14 summa cum laude, 62 cum laude and 21 rite degree. 57 students graduated with a master’s degree, 52 with a bachelor’s degree, 18 with a higher education degree and 227 with a postgraduate degree.
At the ceremonial Senate meeting, Dr. Zita Kovács, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, welcomed the new graduates with the words of Minister of Agriculture István Nagy. She pointed out that law is not just a set of rules, but the harmony of the private and the public good. It is a set of values that often goes beyond the paragraphs. At the University of Miskolc, students have not only acquired legal knowledge, but also a set of values.
Being a lawyer is a privilege and a mission
– she said, adding that it is not only a life path and career opportunity that lies ahead of graduates, but also service.
Finally, she wished that the new graduates would always remain faithful to the values they have acquired within the walls of the University of Miskolc.
In her speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences, Prof. Dr. Csilla Csák said that every degree is worth the amount of work invested.
The university is not just producing professionals, but a generation of future intellectuals.
– she said.
The Dean said that the real tragedy in life is to have no goals, plans, desires or visions, adding that one of the most important goals of the graduates has been fulfilled today.
At the graduation ceremony, Prof. Dr. Pawel Czubik received an Honorary Doctorate, Dr. Gergely Cseh-Zelina, Dr. Eszter Marczisné Dr. Czibrik and Dr. Péter Sereg received Ph.D. degrees.
This year the Bertalan Szemere Memorial Medal was awarded to Sarolta Cserba, Panna Domos, Patrik Leiter Miklós and Panna Bianka Lengyel.
Raheleh Soltanibahrehmand is the Student Ambassador of the University of Miskolc for the academic year 2024/25.
The Student Council of the University of Miskolc awarded the Distinguished Teacher Diploma to Dr. Edit Udvarhelyiné Dr. Sápi, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences, and the Diploma of Honour to Kata Bátori, Ádám Bence Rembeczki and Botond Horváth, students of the Law Faculty.
In honour of the graduating students, the students of the Béla Bartók Faculty of Music (Dorina Csehi – vocals, Márk Hajas – guitar, Regő Kopcsó – cajon) performed Louis Demetrio and Pablo Bertlán Ruiz’s Sway.
