“Education is the most powerful weapon that can change the world,” said Dr. Mária Illésné Dr. Kovács Mária at the graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
At the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, 346 students passed the final exams in the second semester of the academic year 2024/2025. The graduates received their diplomas at a public ceremony of the Senate of the University of Miskolc on 27 June 2025. The diplomas were awarded by Prof. Dr. Zita Horváth, Rector of the University of Miskolc, and Dr. Mária Illésné Dr. Kovács, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
In her speech, Dr. Mária Illésné Dr. Kovács said that the choice of the University of Miskolc’s liberal arts programmes was an important point in the achievement of their goals. With the responsibility of the knowledge they have acquired, they can embark on the path of a creative intellectual who thinks critically, demands his or her knowledge, is capable of making independent decisions and acquiring knowledge.
It is the moments that shape us that are important. There is no such thing as lifelong knowledge, and no one today can afford the luxury of not learning.

In her closing speech, the Rector of the University of Miskolc, Prof. Dr. Zita Horváth, recalled: “Miskolc is building a campus of knowledge and community, which has not been hindered by economic and social crises. She said that recent graduates are also welcome to return, either to continue their studies or to join the university’s alumni community, which has so far been joined by more than 10,000 former students.
At the graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Ph.D. doctoral degrees, the University of Miskolc International Student Ambassador Award, Bosch Award, Outstanding Teacher Diplomas and Diplomas of Honour were awarded.
Doctoral degrees were awarded to Katalin Ludmán and Zsolt Szolnoki.
The title of “Student Ambassador of the University of Miskolc” for the academic year 2024/25 was awarded to Gustavo Raiser Micheli, a student of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
In recognition of her outstanding relationship with students, her cooperative and helpful attitude and her work for the development of education at the University of Miskolc, the Student Body Council of the ME awarded the Distinguished Teacher Diploma to Dr. Andrea Osváth, Assistant Professor.
Barbara Panna Beszeda and Blanka Anna Tegzes, both graduates of the Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Pedagogy, received the Diploma of Honour for their outstanding work in the field of student representation and in the student and public life of the University.
