At a public ceremony of the Senate of the University of Miskolc, the graduating students of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Engineering, the Faculty of Materials and Chemical Engineering and the Faculty of Health Sciences received their diplomas on the afternoon of 26 June. At the event, the Honorary Doctorate and PhD Doctorate degrees, the Distinguished University Docent awards, the University of Miskolc International Student Ambassador awards, the Hydrocarbon Engineering Foundation’s thesis awards and the Student Body Council awards were presented.
In the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Engineering, 65 students, in the Faculty of Materials and Chemical Engineering, 30 students, and in the Faculty of Health Sciences, 154 students graduated in the second semester of the academic year 2024/25.
In her speech, Dr. Emőke Kiss-Tóth, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, drew attention to the important role of the community: the driving force of our community, Selmec, symbolises camaraderie, solidarity, helping each other and togetherness. It also has a community-preserving and identity-forming power.
People live their lives in concentric circles of community.
The University of Miskolc was one of these community circles for graduates – she added.
At the graduation ceremony, Prof. Dr. Marco Petitta and Prof. Dr. Terry C. Lowe were awarded “Honorary Doctorates”.
PhD degrees were awarded to Musaab Adam Abbakar Mohammed of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Engineering, and to Al-Jaberi Dalal Karad Thbayh, Bella Bárdos-Udvardi, Viktor Kárpáti and Julie Mallouhi of the Faculty of Materials and Chemical Engineering.
The Faculty of Earth and Environmental Engineering awarded the title of “Distinguished Associate Professor” to Dr. Gusztáv Dovrtel.
For the academic year 2024/25, the “Student Ambassador” of the University of Miskolc was awarded to Martins Uchenna Obidiegwu, student of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Engineering; Amar Ul Haque, student of the Faculty of Materials and Chemical Engineering and Chioma Peace Osuagwu, student of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
The thesis awards of the Hydrocarbon Engineering Foundation went to Anna Podráczki, BSc student and Dr. Péter Pecsmány, MSc student.
The Student Council of the University of Miskolc awarded the “Outstanding Teacher” diploma to Dr. Beáta Siskáné Szilasi, Associate Professor of the Department of Earth and Environmental Engineering, and to Mária Koppányné Szendrák, Master’s Lecturer of the Faculty of Health Sciences. It awarded a “Diploma of Honour” to Rajmond Gál, a student of Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Materials and Chemical Engineering and Alexandra Fábián, a student of Nursing and Patient Care at the Faculty of Health Sciences.
In honour of the graduates, the Palota Trombone Quartet, composed of students from the Béla Bartók Faculty of Music, performed the theme song from the James Bond films. Bálint Molnár, Levente Somodi, Illés Marton, Simon Szomor.
