A total of 80 Mediterranean herbs and medicinal plants have been planted in the herb garden of the University of Miskolc to provide students of the Faculty of Health Sciences with hands-on learning opportunities about the plants, their processing, and their uses.
At the inauguration of the herb garden, Dr. habil Andrea Lukács, Vice Dean for Scientific and International Affairs of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Miskolc, stated in her speech that the garden symbolizes a vocational training program that is unique even at the national level.
Students also contributed to the construction of the garden, said Norbert Pászk, Head of Institute and Department at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Miskolc. He added that the main purpose of the herb garden is to support the studies of students enrolled in the specialized training program in herbal consulting by enabling them to learn how to grow and process the plants locally, at the University of Miskolc.
Following the garden presentation, an interactive session was held, where visitors were introduced to well-known Hungarian medicinal herbs and herbal teas.
