The CiRCLETECH project, a collaborative programme, has been selected by the European Commission for funding from 388 proposals submitted, including 15 from national universities and research institutes. The main objective of the project is to contribute to the enhancement of the professional excellence of researchers and research management professionals in the three partner institutions of the consortium in the field of the circular economy by providing a wide range of support tools and, in this context, to the creation of a knowledge and competence centre (CiRCLETECH HUB) at the University of Miskolc, which, taking into account the needs and opportunities identified in the region and building on adaptable international good practices and new solutions, will connect the relevant actors in the region as innovation partners to increase the innovation capacity of the North Hungary region.
The CiRCLETECH HUB, based on a collaboration between international experts and different disciplines, focuses its activities on 4 main areas, such as (1) urban resource mining, (2) recycling and reuse, (3) circular product design, and (4) just energy transition. For these four focus areas, the knowledge and competence centre that the project will establish will play a key role in finding the right answers to the economic and social challenges identified in the region.
The project will implement a career development programme for teachers and researchers of the University of Miskolc, as well as for resource development professionals, through a mobility programme to gain experience in partner institutions, research support activities, training and workshops to support their individual professional development. CiRCLETECH will also support the University of Miskolc in building its research management capacity and knowledge, with the aim of increasing its success in competing in the European Union’s Horizon Europe Framework Programme for Research and Development in its chosen field.
