When did you start your studies and why did you choose the University of Miskolc?
I started my studies in September 2024. I chose the University of Miskolc because of its strong academic programs in economics, multicultural environment, and the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally while studying abroad.
What was your first impression when you arrived in Hungary? Did you notice any cultural differences?
My first impression was that Hungary is a very welcoming and peaceful country. I didn’t experience a significant cultural difference when I arrived in Hungary, especially in terms of daily routines. The only noticeable challenge is the language, but it’s not a major issue since we can always communicate through body language.
What are/were your biggest challenges during your studies and how did you overcome these challenges?
My biggest challenge was adapting to a new education system and language environment. I overcame it by asking questions, participating actively in classes, and building a support network with fellow international students.
In your opinion, what makes the University of Miskolc stand out among other Hungarian universities?
The University of Miskolc stands out for its beautiful campus, supportive community, and diverse events and academic programs. It also provides excellent opportunities for international students to connect and engage in cultural exchange.
What do you like the most about campus life at the University of Miskolc?
I enjoy the friendly atmosphere on campus, where students from different countries can meet and share experiences. The green spaces and relaxing environment make studying here very pleasant
What kinds of activities, programmes or student organizations have you taken part in during your studies at the university?
I participated in the freshman camp, which was a great opportunity to build my first network of friends and feel more connected to the university community. I also joined Chinese language and dance activities, which helped me discover new cultures, improve my skills, and meet people from different backgrounds. Additionally, I took part in some student organization events, which gave me the chance to engage more in campus life and connect with fellow students from different faculties.
What are the places and activities that an international student should definitely visit or try in Miskolc?
I recommend visiting Lillafüred, the Miskolctapolca Cave Bath, and Diósgyőr Castle. Exploring the city center and enjoying Hungarian cuisine are also must-try experiences.
Do you and other students from your country (or similar cultural background) keep any of your traditions while living in Miskolc? If yes, can you give an example?
Yes, we celebrate Moroccan cultural traditions together, such as preparing special dishes during Ramadan or gathering for Moroccan tea evenings. It helps us feel at home and share our culture with others.
What skills and benefits have you already gained from studying at the University of Miskolc?
I have developed stronger communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Living and studying abroad has also made me more independent and adaptable in different situations.
What kind of academic support have you received from the university or your faculty?
Professors and faculty members are approachable and always willing to clarify concepts or give guidance. The International Relations Office also provides excellent support for administrative and academic matters.
How do you think your degree of the University of Miskolc will help you in your life and career?
My MBA degree will give me the knowledge and practical skills needed to excel in international business. It will also open doors to career opportunities globally and help me make a positive impact in my field.
What is the most important thing or advice you would recommend to active/future students of the University of Miskolc?
Stay open-minded, ask for help when needed, and make the most of the opportunities offered by the university. Studying abroad is a unique experience that helps you grow academically and personally.
If you could choose a superpower, what would it be and how would you use it to help active/future students of the University of Miskolc?
I would choose the power to instantly break language barriers. This would help future students communicate easily, make friends faster, and feel more confident when they arrive in Hungary.
