When did you start your studies and why did you choose the University of Miskolc?

I started my studies as PhD student at the Faculty of Law in September 2025. I chose Miskolc University due to high quality educational system which is suitable with my study program.

What was your first impression when you arrived in Hungary? Did you notice any cultural differences?

When I arrived in Hungary, especially in Miskolc I feel that the suitable place to my personality, then I did not notice a big cultural difference since it is in same areas similar to my home country Algeria.

What are/were your biggest challenges during your studies and how did you overcome these challenges?

My biggest challenge is studying how to find English references, so I try to go to several libraries such as Parliament Library of Budapest.

In your opinion, what makes the University of Miskolc stand out among other Hungarian universities?

In my opinion, Miskolc University has a good international community.

What do you like the most about campus life at the University of Miskolc?

I like the combination between the several culture and know new traditions.

What kinds of activities, programmes or student organizations have you taken part in during your studies at the university?

During my studies at the Faculty of Law, I participated in various student activities and academic events such as workshops and seminars. I also worked on group projects and engaged in student initiatives, which helped me develop my teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills.

What are the places and activities that an international student should definitely visit or try in Miskolc?

International students in Miskolc should visit places like Lillafüred, Miskolctapolca Cave Bath, and Diósgyőr Castle, and try activities such as hiking, attending cultural festivals, and exploring the city center.

Do you and other students from your country (or similar cultural background) keep any of your traditions while living in Miskolc? If yes, can you give an example?

Yes, as a student from Algeria living in Miskolc, I proudly maintain my cultural traditions by observing Ramadan and organizing iftar gatherings with other students, creating a warm sense of community, sharing our heritage, and introducing others to the richness of our culture.

What skills and benefits have you already gained from studying at the University of Miskolc?

Studying at the University of Miskolc has helped me develop strong academic and personal skills, including critical thinking, legal research, and effective communication. It has also improved my ability to work in diverse, international environments, enhanced my independence, and strengthened my adaptability and problem-solving skills.

What kind of academic support have you received from the university or your faculty?

At the University of Miskolc, I have received academic support through personalized guidance from professors, access to well-equipped libraries and online resources, workshops and seminars to strengthen my legal knowledge, and assistance from the faculty in planning my studies and preparing for exams and research projects.

How do you think your degree of the University of Miskolc will help you in your life and career?

Through the international dimension as European diploma, so it has a big value to be a professor at university.

What is the most important thing or advice you would recommend to active/future students of the University of Miskolc?

To choose the University according to your study program and that the case aldo for your supervisors!

If you could choose a superpower, what would it be and how would you use it to help active/future students of the University of Miskolc?

If I could choose a superpower, I would choose the ability to understand any complex topic and explain it in a simple way. I would use this power to help students at University of Miskolc understand difficult subjects and succeed in their studies and future careers.
