The University of Miskolc will open its doors to the achievements of science and the world of research that led to them on Researchers’ Night on September 26. Starting at 5 p.m., visitors are welcome to attend programs in the University City that present the university’s diverse activities in an accessible and spectacular way. The city transport company will be running additional buses during the event.
The Researchers’ Night is an event of particular importance for the University of Miskolc, as it offers the general public an opportunity to learn about the diversity of scientific work and the excitement, discoveries, challenges, and experiences that research offers said Prof. Dr. Péter Szűcs, Vice-Rector for Science at the University of Miskolc, at a press conference held about this year’s event. The eight faculties of the University of Miskolc represent a wide range of scientific fields, he added, which, in his opinion, contributes to the event’s mission of raising awareness of research careers and training the next generation.
Researchers’ Night strengthens ties between the university and the region, promoting knowledge sharing and cooperation. The Higher Education and Industrial Cooperation Center, the Foreign Language Education Center, the Confucius Institute, the Sports Center, the Scientific and International Directorate, the Community Service Office, the Academy for Seniors, and the Miskolc University Library, Archives and Museum, as well as the university’s strategic partners, the region’s leading industrial companies, will also have the opportunity to introduce themselves at the event.
The Researchers’ Morning program, which is being organized for the third time by the university specifically for elementary and high school students, is closely linked to Researchers’ Night again this year. The young students will be able to encounter the wonders of the world of science in a playful setting, through interactive presentations that encourage their participation: from digital terrain tables and mini brick manufacturing to artificial intelligence.
This year, Researchers’ Night offers a special event: a 24-hour community painting experience, the PsychArt24 Art Marathon. Ágota Jármai, representing the Miskolc Mental Health Workshop, said that the program, which will begin at 12 noon on September 26 at the Zenepalota in Miskolc and will be held simultaneously in several cities across the country, aims to draw attention to the acceptance of people living with mental illness. PsychArt24 can even be considered a social science experiment, she added, as healthy people and those struggling with illness participate together in the joint creation. The anti-stigma program is open to everyone, anyone can participate and get involved in the community activity.
