At the opening of the ceremonial Senate session, Vice-Rector Dr. Roland Szilágyi emphasized in his speech that while many things have changed over the decades, the exemplary power of the work of former students has remained constant. He highlighted that the awarding of jubilee diplomas is one of the most important, defining, and moving celebrations in the life of the university. The colorful diplomas are far more than certificates — they are acknowledgments of life paths and careers, and official affirmations that dedication to one’s profession, diligence, and professional humility are indeed enduring values.

The jubilee diploma is not only a recognition of individual life achievements, but also an acknowledgment of our shared past and professional heritage,

– he stated.

In his ceremonial address, Prof. Dr. Gábor Mucsi, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Informatics, recalled the history of the two faculties and emphasized how characteristic renewal is for them. Quoting Kazinczy, he explained: “Innovation, even if good and necessary, is opposed by many, but without innovation, building is impossible. Our faculties want to build, and we firmly believe that this is the key to the future.” Finally, he highlighted the awardees who later became lecturers at the university and noted that internationalization has been important for the university for over 50 years, with former students arriving for the diploma ceremony even from Vietnam.

Dr. Szilágyi Roland rektorhelyettes záróbeszédében megköszönte a díjazottak sok évtizedes munkáját:

I wish that, in good health and enriched with joyful years, you will continue to be inspiring examples for the engineering profession and future generations.
