290 years ago, on June 22, 1735, the Imperial Court Chamber in Vienna issued the “Instructio,” by which Charles III founded the world’s first institution of higher technical education – the Mining Academy of Selmecbánya (now Banská Štiavnica). This institution is the legal predecessor of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences and Engineering and today’s University of Miskolc.
Today, we continue to preserve and carry forward this unique heritage — building on traditions while responding to the challenges of the future.
