In her closing remarks at the Senate meeting held to present the awards, Prof. Dr. Zita Horváth, Rector of the University of Miskolc, described the recognition of knowledge, commitment, and value creation as one of the University of Miskolc’s most beautiful celebrations. As she said, individual achievements, research results, and successes in international relations all contribute to the development of the community and the university. Quoting Albert Einstein, she added that a successful person is simply someone who gives more to society than they take from it.
Behind the history and development of the University of Miskolc lies the collective work of generations—teachers, researchers, and all the staff members who ensure the university’s day-to-day operations.
These are people who build the community through their knowledge, expertise, sense of responsibility, loyalty, and perseverance. “The foundation of all our successes is mutual respect, respect for knowledge and achievement, cooperation, and pride in belonging to the university community,” said the rector.
In closing, he expressed special thanks to the honorees for the work they have done to contribute to the present and future of the University of Miskolc, highlighting the example they set for future generations—namely, that value-creating work is always more than just individual achievement.
During the ceremonial Senate meeting held in the Great Hall, the university honored the colleagues who had passed away during the past academic year, and the participants paid their respects to them. Following the presentation of the awards and certificates, the “Outstanding Academic Author of the University of Miskolc” awards were presented, and finally, the faculty honors were bestowed.
