One of the most beautiful traditional events of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Informatics at the University of Miskolc is the annual meeting of engineers who graduated from the university within the walls of their Alma Mater. As part of the event, the Senate of the University of Miskolc and the Council of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Informatics express their respect for the work of engineers who graduated 50 years ago by awarding them a gold certificate, diamond certificates to engineers who graduated 60 years ago, and iron certificates to those who graduated 65 years ago.

The event will be attended by technical engineers and plant engineers who graduated 60 and 50 years ago from the Measurement and Control Engineering Department of the Kazincbarcika Higher Technical School of Chemical Engineering and the Faculty of Chemical Automation of the University of Heavy Industry. Those who graduated 60 and 50 years ago, respectively. They will be presented with diamond and gold certificates.

The certificates were presented by Dr. Roland Szilágyi, Vice-Rector of the University of Miskolc, and Prof. Dr. Zoltán Siménfalvi, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Informatics

The paths taken by former students vary, but professional activity and attachment to their alma mater, the former University of Heavy Industry, are decisive factors in all of them. Some of our engineers have spent their entire lives in one place, at a single company, while others have changed jobs, cities, and even countries in the decades since graduation. Most of them have been involved in continuous renewal and innovation. Building on what they learned at the university, they have achieved results in the fields of development, design, manufacturing, technology, organization, and education that have greatly contributed to the development of the country’s industry and economy.

Graduates from decades ago may notice big changes when they return to their alma mater. In addition to the continuous renewal of buildings and infrastructure, the university’s educational system has also undergone major changes. It is gratifying that engineers and computer scientists who graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Informatics at the University of Miskolc are still in demand, recognized, and respected. University life is just as wonderful for young people studying here today as it was many years ago. The solidarity characteristic of Miskolc engineers remains strong among students, and our students cherish the heritage and traditions of Selmecbánya just as much as in previous decades.

Our anniversary graduates are among those who have laid an excellent foundation for the reputation of mechanical engineers graduating from Miskolc through their work. They have set an example in society in terms of continuous professional development, friendship, activities important to society, and attachment to their alma mater. Based on all this, they are worthy role models for our current students.

Respect to the Mechanical Engineer!

Prof. Dr. Zoltán Siménfalvi, Dean
