The academic year begins with nearly 4,300 freshmen at the University of Miskolc

A total of 840 applicants applied for the programs offered by the University of Miskolc through the supplemental admissions process; of these, 559 were admitted—approximately two-thirds of the applicants. Of those admitted, 198 will begin their studies on Hungarian government scholarships, while 361 will be self-supporting students.

The largest number of new students were admitted to programs at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science (133 students), closely followed by the Faculty of Political Science and Law (124 students). The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences admitted 84 students, the Faculty of Health Sciences admitted 81, and the Faculty of Economics admitted 77.

Among the fields of study, engineering proved to be the strongest overall with 150 students, followed by law programs with 124 students. A total of 80 new students can enroll in medical and health sciences programs, and 68 in economics courses.

Among the programs, the most popular was law (60 students), followed by judicial administration (36 students), electrical engineering (32 students), and the medical diagnostic analyst undergraduate program (31 students).

Nationwide, several programs had notably high admission thresholds. The 475-point threshold for the bachelor’s program in Human Resources, Labor, and Social Administration was the fourth highest among state-funded, full-time bachelor’s programs.

Among master’s programs, the highest cutoff score of 100 points was recorded for the part-time, Hungarian state-scholarship-funded programs in criminology and human resources, labor, and social administration.
