The letter of intent signed by the University of Miskolc in Bangkok with one of Thailand’s most prestigious universities, the University of Thai Chamber of Commerce, lays the foundation for professional cooperation in the field of economics education and the development of international relations.
The signing took place as part of Péter Szijjártó’s visit to Bangkok, during which the University of Miskolc’s recruitment office in Thailand, operated by the Foldana Group, was officially opened.
The agreement between the higher education institutions was signed by Prof. Dr. Helga Kovács, Vice-Rector for Strategic Relations, representing the University of Miskolc, who, together with a delegation from the Faculty of Economics, presented the opportunities offered by the University of Miskolc to the students and management of the Thai institution.
The primary goal of the cooperation is to increase the number of international students at the University of Miskolc and to broaden the international knowledge transfer channel between the two regions. The higher education institution expects a significant number of Thai students to arrive, but
the agreement also opens up opportunities for Hungarian students to study in the Far East.
Based on current negotiations, the program will start in the field of economics, but Thai students are already showing interest in other courses offered by the University of Miskolc. Prof. Dr. Helga Kovács, Vice-Rector for Strategic Relations at the University of Miskolc, emphasized that the partnership will initially focus on the MBA double degree program at the Faculty of Economics. Under the program, Hungarian and Thai students will receive joint education and can obtain degrees from both institutions.
“The University of Thai Chamber of Commerce is a highly respected and popular institution run by the local chamber of commerce, so it is well acquainted with the needs of the business world. It is an exemplary operating system whose best practices can be successfully applied at our university,” said the vice rector. He emphasized that
the stability of the cooperation can be ensured by the cross-cultural value identity of the institutions’ operations.
The long-term presence of the University of Miskolc in Thailand and the effective outreach to students on the ground is supported by the Bangkok office of the Foldana Group. The office is responsible for direct recruitment and informing young people in Thailand about further education opportunities at the University of Miskolc. The office assists both self-funded applicants and students interested in the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program, opening a new gateway between the Southeast Asian region and the Miskolc campus.
